I'm 15 and want to go to Durango, Mexico and see my family . Is it dangerous ?

I want to go see my grandpa and I want to go to a small town called San Juan Del Rio Durango ? Is it dangerous ? Any commets advice ..also plane or bus ? PLEASE HELP THANKS !
