Are there any long white sand beaches on Puerto Rico/USVI?

My friend and I want a beach vacation but she doesn't have a passport so we're limited to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. A nice beach is a priority. Are there any large white sand beaches in either of those places? Something like in Aruba? I know there is a large beach near San Juan but I want to stay out of the high-rise section. We still would like a larger hotel that offers a restaurant or something because we can't rent a car to go out. Does anyone have any hotel recommendations?
