Who wrote this book: "Goddess"?

A long time ago I read a book, "Goddess", I am trying to find it and no matter where I search for the title all I get back is a bunch of new age books on goddess worship or fantasy books about various goddesses. I WISH I remembered the author of this book but no luck. This book is about an orphan girl back in the 1930's in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Long story short she finds herself in Hollywood and because of her beauty quickly becomes a starlet who becomes involved with one of her directors. If you know the author of this book please please please PLEASE tell me. Thank you!!
