Which Hispanic Country would be best to live in?

I am an eighteen year old girl that wants to live in a hispanic country each summer. I want to go to school to become a spanish teacher, and in the summers it would be my dream to live in a spanish speaking country. I enjoy the rich history and humble culture that Mexico and Puerto Rico's city San Juan has to offer but i don't know if i could afford an apartment there. I plan on buying an apartment in Utah and in a hispanic city. I want to rent out the hispanic apartment throughout the year when I'm not there. Is this plan difficult to do on a teacher's salary? any suggestions? i want to live in an urban city with both historic buildings and museums but still close to the beach. not to mention, my dad's first words when i told him my plans was "don't get raped". he has a good point so a city with a reasonable crime rate would be a plus. if not, i'll just carry pepper spray.
